Animal day

Today's already my third day at Turnstyle, I can't believe how fast the time goes! After having breakfast and dropping off Robin and Oscar at the European school, Barbara took me to Turnstyle, where I met up with Gaynor.
We looked at the possibilities for the day and decided that I'd go with the horse riding group in the morning, and with the animal interest group in the afternoon. A day full of animals as you see!
Since the horse riding lessons didn't start until quarter past eleven, I had time to drink a cup of tea and chat with the staff in the kitchen.
When it was time to go, me and Susie, the staff-member i'd be with today, got in the car. Before driving to the stables, we picked up Fiona and Nicky. Fiona was a really happy and chatty lady. She couldn't stop talking about how much she had been looking forward to her weekly ride on Bob, her favourite horse. Nicky was more quiet, she can't really express herself. She knows some words and is able to talk a little, but she usually doesn't. When I asked her if she was looking forward to today as well, Susie explained to me that Nicky wasn't riding. Once we got Fiona in a proper riding outfit and got her in Bob's saddle, Susie, Nicky and me waited in the car until Fiona was finished.
Susie explained to me that Nicky was a hard nut to crack. She doesn't get exited for any activities: there're things she hates, and things she hates slightly less, that's it. The staff doesn't really know what to do with her anymore, so they just carry her around a bit to keep her from sitting inside all day. Nicky does have one passion though: plastic bags and wrappers. All day, she carried a plastic bag around filled with McDonalds wrappers, Burger King papers and other plastic bags.
After the horse riding, we took Fiona and Nicky to a pub for lunch, where we met up with another group. We went to that specific pub because Fiona's sister had insisted on Fiona eating healthier, but Fiona wanted the only unhealthy dish on the menu: chips and vinegar. When we gave her those, because in the end it's Fiona's money so her pick, she got real happy and said 'I just won't show her the receipt and she'll never know!' Smart girl, that Fiona, haha!
After lunch we had to hurry to get Fiona to computer group on time. Once we'd dropped her off, we went back to Turnstyle's main building for animal interest group. Susie told me that it was a club she and another staff-member, Sam, had organised for animal lovers like themselves. Usually, they'd go and see some animals at farms, riding stables or even in the zoo, but today, they'd stay in. Animal interest group namely also has the responsibility over the fish tank filled with pet goldfish, and the water was looking very brown and filthy.
We explained to everyone that we had to stay in to change the fish tank today, but no one really minded, because they'd never done it before so it was quite exiting for them. We spend all afternoon cleaning out the fish tank and the props and filter inside it, and somehow we kept all fish alive and well!
After this, it was time for the clients to go back home. Barbara came to pick me up and we were home early because we didn't have to pick Oscar and Robin up from school. After having a cup of tea at Barbara's house, we decided to walk to a mall in Oxford called 'Cowley Centre', because I wanted to buy some magazines. After purchasing the British versions of Glamour and Cosmopolitan, Barbara took me to this huge outlet store which name I forgot. It was an amazing store with clothes, shoes, home accessories and sportswear from big brands, but than really cheap. I tried on a bunch of things and finally waled back home with an amazing new running jacket and a fluffy cardigan.
Back home, we had curry for dinner and it tasted amazing. After dinner, I called home to my mum because I had been feeling a bit homesick throughout the day. Hearing her voice really cheered me up! After this I watched some TV before going to bed, because these days at Turnstyle make me feel absolutely exhausted.
